Clem McMahon and Any Questions claim victory in the Horseware/ TRM National Grand Prix at The Meadows

 

It was leg 15 of the Horseware/ TRM National Grand Prix League at The Meadows in County Antrim today.

 

Just under 40 combinations took on the course and it was Monaghan’s Clem McMahon with Any Questions, the 9 year old KWPN bay mare by Oklund who answered all the questions posed by Course Builder Nigel Jess today.

 

In one of the most exciting jump off’s of the season the competition was high, a finale enjoyed by both riders and spectators ensued with a gallop to the last the final test.

 

Less than a second divided the top three placings with Ger O’Neill and Hayakari pushed into second place by the slimmest of margins and Alexander Butler with Monastery Stud More Pleasure taking third.

 

Alexander Butler now edges closer to Vincent Byrne at the top of the League leaderboard but Mr Rockefeller still dominates the leading horse table.

 

The Meadows also played host to a leg of the Irish Sporthorse Studbook showjumping series.  Former World Champion Dermott Lennon and Caspian (ISH) won the latest leg in Armagh today.  Caspian is a 2007 gelding by Lux Z (HANN) out of Thirza (KWPN), by Burggraaf (HOLST) The breeder is Andries de Bont of Cork, while the owner is Allan Davidson.

 

The Six Year Old Final was won by Thomas O’Brien riding Mini Cruzano (ISH), a 2008 mare by Silvano (KWPN) out of Hyundai Santa Fe (ISH), by Cruising (ISH). The breeder is Oliver Walsh of Galway, and the owner Leona Walsh.

 

With Just four legs of the Horseware/ TRM National Grand Prix left to go the action now moves to Tattersalls next weekend for their annual show which also boasts a leg of the Premier Series.
