RINCOOLA RUA TAKES SEVEN YEAR-OLD TITLE AT LOUTH SHOW

EDWARD Butler and Rincoola Rua (ISH) won the first leg of the ISH studbook series at Louth County show today (Sunday).

The winner is by Diamant De Semilly (SF) out of the Dam Rincoola Abu (ISH) and was bred and owned by Harold McGahern.

Second was Shenick (ISH) ridden by John Floody, owned by Joanne Attley and bred by Lynsey Smith, with third going to Shantonagh (ISH) ridden by Nicola FitzGibbon, and owned and bred by Dermot Forde.

Ten horses shared the 6yo old series with seven sharing the 5yo.

These classes are not decided by a jump off to avoid young horses being pushed against the clock. The prizes are shared between the horses that jump a second clear within a prescribed time.

The series, which is run over two days, saw some 80 horses line for yesterdays, 5yo competition, 65 for the 6yo competition and 29 for the 7yo.

The next leg of the series takes place in Barnadown from 9-11 May. Total prize money for the series is €80,000.
