Irish riders dominated the opening day of the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show, with all three International classes being won by riders wearing the green jacket.

Mayo’s Cameron Hanley captured the show opening the Speed Stakes with Newton du Bois, with fellow-countryman Tipperary’s Thomas Ryan second aboard Cruise on Clover and another Mayo rider Michael Duffy third with Westland Ruby.

In form Darragh Kenny, who is from Co Offaly but now based in the USA, claimed the biggest class of the day, the Irish Sports Council Classic, when last to jump with Picolo pushing world number two Britain’s Ben Maher into second with Aristo Z.

Darragh Kenny was again in unbeatable form in the first qualifier for the Connolly’s RED MILLS International Class for 7&8 year old horses, where he took the winners prize with Chin Quidam Vdl while Tipperary’s Greg Broderick took runner up spot with Javas Keltic Mist.

Today (Thursday) is Ladies Day at the RDS, with the main jumping highlights being the Speed Derby, Speed Stakes and The Anglesea Stakes.
